Basho Travel is a travel-planning web app operated by Curt Middleton Design, LLC, a New York limited liability company (“we,” “us,” or “Basho Travel”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms.
1. Beta status
Basho Travel is in active closed beta. The service may change, break, experience downtime, or lose data during normal development. Don’t use it as the only copy of anything irreplaceable. Access is invite-only; we may add or remove testers at any time.
2. Beta operator access
During the closed beta, the operator (Curt Middleton Design, LLC) may view content inside your account — trips, plans, memories, faves, forwarded email bodies — to investigate bugs you report and to improve the product. We do this only to operate, support, and improve the service. We do not sell this content, share it with third parties for advertising, or use it to train models.
If you’d prefer your account not be inspected for support, email hello@basho.travel and we’ll honor that — with the caveat that we may be unable to debug issues you report without seeing what you see.
3. Your account
You’re responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything that happens under your account. Let us know at
hello@basho.travel if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the trips, plans, photos, notes, and anything else you put into Basho Travel (“Your Content”). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, display, and back up Your Content for the sole purpose of operating the service for you. When you share a trip with collaborators or via a public share link, you’re granting the viewers access on the same terms.
5. Acceptable use
Don’t use Basho Travel to store or share anything illegal, harassing, defamatory, or infringing. Don’t try to compromise the service, reverse-engineer our systems, scrape other users’ content, or abuse rate limits. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this.
6. Third-party services
Basho Travel is built on top of third parties including Supabase (hosting, auth, storage), Resend (email), OpenAI (parsing forwarded emails), Google Maps (geocoding), and Unsplash (stock photography). Your use of the service is also subject to their terms. See our

7. Email and content parsing
If you forward emails to your Basho Travel inbox alias, you authorize us to process the contents (including with OpenAI) to extract plan details on your behalf. The raw email body, the parsed plan details, and basic delivery metadata (from, to, subject, timestamp) are stored on your account.
8. Connected Gmail accounts
If you choose to connect a Gmail account from Settings, you grant Basho Travel read-only access to your Gmail (gmail.readonly scope) for the sole purpose of finding travel-related emails and parsing them into plans on your account. We only fetch messages matching travel keywords (airlines, hotels, common booking senders), and we run those messages through the same OpenAI parser that handles forwarded mail.
We store an encrypted refresh token so we can keep scanning for new bookings; we do not store your Google password. You can disconnect at any time from Settings — that revokes the refresh token and stops all future scans. You can also revoke access directly from your Google Account permissions page. Bashō’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
9. Termination
You can delete your account any time by emailing
hello@basho.travel. We’ll remove your account and associated content within 30 days. We may also suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
Basho Travel is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent allowed by law.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Curt Middleton Design, LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of Basho Travel. Our total liability for any claim related to the service will not exceed US $50.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. If the changes are material, we’ll notify you by email before they take effect.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York.
